As we step into the month of November, we find ourselves surrounded by the familiar rhythm of holiday fun, laughter, love, and — if we’re honest — maybe a little heartache too. Life isn’t perfect, but it’s beautiful, and this time of year reminds us to pause and be thankful for it all.
Here at Yarn Store Boutique, we stay busy (because that’s our nature!) — planning for you, so you can plan ahead. We have some wonderful workshops coming up in November, including the Increase Decrease Technique Workshop. Julie has really developed into a wonderful teacher, and I’m so grateful for her — she’s been such an amazing asset to YSB, as well as the rest of my team.
Dianne has been with me for at least seven years, and she’s truly my rock. She keeps me grounded, reminds me to breathe, and insists I stop long enough to enjoy a cup of tea. Kim is the one who makes me laugh until my sides hurt — she brings playfulness to my more serious nature, and I love her for that.
Getting back to the store, we also have Diana Beard teaching a workshop this month on zipper application and project linings. I love Diana — many of you do too — and I’m grateful to my friend Debbie Smith, one of my very first customers, who introduced us. Debbie is the kind of friend who brings people together, and that connection has truly blessed our YSB family.
For the upcoming holidays, we have some wonderful crafting workshops on the horizon — an Open Needle Felting Workshop where you can make handmade Christmas presents, and Micro Crochet with Pat Crosland. Pat is one of the sweetest people I’ve met, and Julie actually connected us (no pun intended!).
Pat will be teaching how to make micro crochet earrings, and let me tell you, her jewelry is stunning. I’ve always been a little bit of a snob about crochet jewelry — sorry, you know I’m honest! — but I bought three pairs of her earrings at our Maker’s Fair. They are tasteful, beautifully crafted, and her color choices are just perfect. The quality of her findings is top-notch, too.
Another person I’m thankful for is Sharon Thayer, who joined us at our Maker’s Fair with her children’s storybooks. I was so impressed by her writing that I decided to carry her books in our store — they make the most thoughtful gifts for little ones. I even bought two myself, since Bob and I recently welcomed our second great-grandchild! I’ve always loved reading to children, and these stories are truly treasures.
And just as a side note — many of you may not know this — but I am a 23-year breast cancer survivor. I’m grateful for my life every single day. I love God deeply, and He is my source of energy, peace, and freedom from fear. One day, I’ll share my full story with you all (or should I say yenses?).
🧶 Gratitude in Every Stitch
As we move into Thanksgiving and the holidays beyond, I encourage you to take a deep breath, slow down, and make something with your hands. Whether it’s a cozy cowl, a set of felted ornaments, or a heartfelt handmade gift — every stitch you make carries love.
And speaking of handmade gifts, I know — I said it — Christmas really is right around the corner! If you’re looking for something meaningful and quick to make, consider scheduling a one-on-one Friendship Shawl session using our knitting machine.
It’s fast, fun, and easy — perfect for a special gift from the heart. You’ll pick out your colors, and we’ll set you up on the machine and guide you through the entire process. Each session takes about three hours, and the fee is $45.00 plus the yarn of your choice. It’s a wonderful way to create something beautiful and personal without the holiday stress.
We are thankful for you — our community, our friends, and our extended Yarn Store Boutique family. You bring life, laughter, and purpose to what we do every single day.
From all of us — Julie, Dianne, Kim, and myself — we wish you a Thanksgiving filled with warmth, laughter, and peace. May your hands stay busy, your hearts stay open, and your lives overflow with color.
Happy Thanksgiving from your Yarn Store Boutique family. 🧡
