Journaling my thoughts, prayers, trips, and activities has always been something I wanted to do. The problem? I could never find that last travel journal, prayer journal, or “life journal” I had started, so I’d just begin a new one. Now I have multiple journals scattered everywhere with no connection between them. Basically, I’m a total squirrel (as my friend Dianne would say). She even gave me a sticker that sums it up perfectly: “I don’t have ducks, or a row… I have squirrels, and they are EVERYWHERE.” I’ve never put a sticker on my computer before, but that one earned the spot—first of many!
Back to journaling… My daughter, Tara, invited me to attend a crafting conference with her. Since I love spending time with her, I said yes. What an experience! It was a whirlwind of creativity, energy, and inspiration—and I caught the bug. At first, I thought, “This could be a very expensive hobby just for a calendar that gets tucked away at the end of the year.” But then something clicked. I already collect fountain pens (because they make me want to write), and at the conference, I saw someone using a mini photo printer. I was instantly hooked. Let’s just say I now have… three. (We won’t talk about how many fountain pens are in my collection!)
Fast forward—our shop recently received Project Journals by Twice Sheared Sheep. Since I already had half-started notebooks of knitting machine notes and WIP logs, I was curious but cautious. When I opened this journal, though, I knew it was different. I finally had another chance to redeem my journaling skills—or lack thereof—and this time it stuck. I LOVE it.
Here’s why: I can slip my pattern into it, jot down notes, and tuck little extras into the sleeve pockets—all in one place! Now I carry this journal in my knitting bag and consistently keep track of my many projects. The best part? I get to play. I pull out my beautiful markers, stickers, washi tape, pretty papers, and my little photo printers so I can add pictures of WIPs and finished projects. It’s creative, it’s personal, it’s colorful. Honestly, it has become my new ZEN.
And like all good things, I can’t keep it to myself—I want to share this joy with you! That’s why I’m offering a Journaling Workshop so you can experience the same fun and encouragement. It’s amazing to look back and realize just how many projects you’ve actually completed (YES!).
Here’s what you need to know:
- I supply everything you need for your journaling adventure—stickers, pens, washi tape, pretty extras, and yes, use of my mini printers.
- You just bring a journal (we’ll have several styles and price points available in-store).
- Don’t forget to bring pictures of your finished projects or works-in-progress—because we’ll be printing and adding them right there.
This workshop will be offered every other month - the next workshop will be in November, so we can keep up with it together, encourage each other, and build something beautiful. Trust me—you’ll leave hooked, just like me.
So… are your squirrels running everywhere like mine? 🐿️ Then this workshop is for you! Come play with pens, stickers, washi tape, and mini printers—and walk away with a journal you’ll actually want to keep up with. Sign up soon, because spots will fill fast. Let’s make journaling our new tradition—together, every other month!
Yours truly and sincerely,
Doris Scott, proud 8-year owner of Yarn Store Boutique
