Some weeks just don’t come wrapped up in a pretty bow.
This was one of those weeks.
I feel like I have been running in about six different directions at once—paperwork at the store (you all know how much I love that… ha!), getting my new pottery studio set up, finishing the Birdwatcher sweater just in time for the Zoom introduction today, and then, just to keep things interesting….several big orders showed up all at once.
Oh, and Julie was out Tuesday and Wednesday.
Which meant… I was working two days by myself – I missed my sidekick Julie, but tonight, Dianne came in to help me. She has a way of calming me down.
Those are the moments that don’t always make it into the “highlight reel,” but they are the ones that really show what something is made of.
I found myself standing in the middle of the store at one point, looking around at the yarn, the boxes, half-finished tasks everywhere, and thinking… this is a lot.
But then one of you walks in.
Or someone calls. (Darn I just remembered that I forgot to call a lady back about her yarn, drats)
Or we’re all laughing about something that probably has nothing to do with what we’re supposed to be doing.
And just like that, it shifts.
Because this place was never meant to be perfect.
It was meant to be real.
The Birdwatcher sweater launched today, and as I was sitting there on Zoom, I had one of those quiet little moments. You all showing up, sharing your colors, your excitement, your questions… it reminded me (again) why we do all of this. Oh, and of course I didn’t record it, thought I did, but I did not.
So, if you’ve been thinking about joining us for Birdwatcher… this is your little nudge. There is always room at the table, whether you’re picking colors, casting on, or just trying something new.
And if your week has felt a bit like mine—full, a little scattered, maybe even a touch overwhelming—come see us. Come sit, bring your project (or don’t, we’ll find you one), and just stitch with us for a bit. Sometimes that’s all it takes to reset.
My pottery studio is slowly coming together (I will share more soon—I promise), the yarn is getting put away one box at a time, and the paperwork… well… it’s still there waiting for me tomorrow.
But tonight, I’m choosing to sit in the middle of it all and just feel grateful.
Grateful for this store.
Grateful for this community.
Grateful that even when things feel a little overwhelming, I am surrounded by people who make it all worth it.
If your week has felt a little like mine, unfinished, a little chaotic, maybe even a bit exhausting, just know…
You’re in good company.
And somehow, it all comes together.
