As I sit and reflect today, my mind drifts all the way back to the very first day I opened Yarn Store Boutique.
I had one simple goal in my heart…
To create a place “where everyone knows your name.”
And guess what?
It wasn’t nearly as hard as I thought it might be.
In those first couple of years, things grew slowly—steadily—and that turned out to be such a gift. It gave me the time to truly get to know each of you… one name at a time. I made it my mission to remember you—not just as customers, but as people, as makers, as friends.
Then came a big step… moving into a larger space.
And wouldn’t you know it - it happened right at the beginning of COVID.
Higher rent, uncertain days… it was a tough season.
But here’s the thing - you showed up.
Because of you, this beautiful community continued to support YSB, and we made it through together. I will never forget that.
And now… here we are, heading into our 9th year.
And every day, new faces walk through the door - although, let’s be honest… I like to think of you as new family members. 😉
Now, you all know me… I love a good party.
And oh, the parties we’ve had!
Cocktail parties, wine nights, Christmas gatherings, LYS Day celebrations…
even a few “trips to Italy” (make-believe, of course, but just as fun), tea parties, and I’m sure a few I’ve forgotten along the way.
And now?
We’ve added Mahjong to the mix!
Who knows… maybe dominoes are next.
Somewhere along the way, YSB became more than just a yarn store.
It became a second home - for me and for Julie (had to give her a proper shout-out here 💛).
And oh, the people who make this place what it is…
I’ve been so blessed with an amazing team, each bringing their own special gifts:
- Kim - our designer at heart, always making things beautiful
- Dianne - the queen of clean and organization (a true gift!)
- Ashleigh - wonderful with both children and adults, especially in crochet
- Pat - bringing her knowledge and warmth
- Teresa - adding even more creativity to our growing family
Our team just keeps growing… and so does the love inside these walls.
So what’s the secret to YSB?
It’s really very simple.
To love each person who walks through the door.
That’s it. That’s the whole thing.
We love you all… truly.
