Twelve Workshops and a Whole Lot of Squirrels!
Oh my gosh, here I am again, wondering what in the world I’m going to write about this week. I did the math, and 52 blogs a year is…well, a lot of blogs! Hmm. Here we go. ;-)
I just spent three days with Tara, my niece, aka my daughter, at Little Craft Fest in Conroe. And guess what? I took a total of 12 workshops in two and a half days! Pretty amazing, if I do say so myself.

I learned so much and came home refreshed, energized, and ready to bring some of those wonderful ideas into workshops at YSB. My brain is spinning with possibilities—and you all know what happens when my brain starts spinning. Here come the squirrels!
As you know, we’re not just any knitting store. We’re a store that embraces all crafts, full speed ahead, and I love it! Seeing that dream come to life has been so much fun.
One of the things I love about Little Craft Fest is that I get to walk away from a workshop with a finished product. Don’t get me wrong, I love my knitting and crochet, but whether you knit, crochet, weave, spin, or enjoy another fiber craft, we all know that the finish line isn’t always just around the corner. Sometimes it’s nice to start and finish something in the same day!
I also meet the nicest people at Little Craft Fest, and the teachers are truly amazing. I hope that one day we can bring some of them to YSB to teach for us.

Now, last week I talked about my husband being gone and all the crafting I was going to get done while I had the house to myself. Well, I talk big and have high expectations! I tried really hard, but I didn’t get my sweater finished in time for Little Craft Fest. Darn! I was disappointed.
But when Tara comes to town, she is all-encompassing, if you know what I mean. ;-) I love her dearly, and she takes such good care of me. We’re great partners in crime—especially when it comes to spending!
My sweater will be finished for Saturday, October 31, and our all-day Halloween party and more. There, I said it. Now I have to do it!
Speaking of the store, you may notice a few changes coming. I asked Shannon, who used to work for me, to come in and help us shift things around. She is so good at seeing how to make a space feel bigger, and I love her dearly for helping us.
We’re trying to create more wall space for yarn and more floor space for everyone to mosey around. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get a little claustrophobic in the store! So, for those of you who don’t like change, consider yourselves forewarned. ;-) The changes will happen slowly, so please bear with us as we move things around and move some inventory to help open up more space.
And what do we have going on for Halloween? We have a crochet ghost event, something with Boo’z, and a new painting workshop I just introduced that I’m quite excited about! There’s always something happening around here.
Thank you all for your love and support as we keep dreaming, crafting, and making room for new ideas. We’re doing it all for you; the people we love. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a sweater to finish before Saturday! ;-)
