While the Husband’s Away… The Crafts Come Out!

Well, I thought I had this blog all figured out. Then I let too many days go by without writing anything down, and apparently my memory took my ideas and wandered off somewhere. So who knows where we are headed, but come along anyway! ;-)

I am feeling refreshed and renewed! My husband is in Pensacola, Florida, doing mission work with 8 Days of Hope, helping clear fallen trees after the recent hurricane. I’m grateful he can go and help people who need it. But, I do worry about him, as he thinks he is still 30 years old and can do anything. I talked to him tonight, and he said he had to go out and buy another bottle of Advil ;-|

Now, I hate to admit this, but I do kind of like it when he is gone. I can work on my knitting machine, spread my crafts all over the house, and leave everything right where I’m working. No need to clear a space when the whole house can become my craft room!

But then morning comes.

Who is bringing me my coffee?

And Bella needs to be walked. Three or four times a day! Then there is the grandchildren’s carpool. And just when I think I have everything under control, I look at the gas gauge.

Whoa. I have to get my own gas, too?

Did I also mention that this man brings me lunch every day at work AND takes me to dinner every night?

Shame on me! Here I am celebrating my crafts being spread across the house, and I’m beginning to realize just how spoiled I am. So yes, honey, I do miss you. And not just at mealtimes. ;-)

Meanwhile, I have been working on a sweater that I’m hoping to finish by Wednesday night. Tara, my niece, aka my daughter, is coming to town Thursday, and we are headed to My Little Craft Place workshops in Conroe for THREE straight days. We are even staying at a hotel!

Three days of crafting and several workshops at Craftfest. You all know what that means: I’ll be taking classes while thinking, “Could we do this at the store?” I can’t help myself. I love learning something new and bringing it back to share with you.

Now, enough about me. We have so much happening at Yarn Store Boutique!

Julie and I have a vision: make the store appear bigger AND carry more yarn.

Quite a task, wouldn’t you say? But we are working on it! Today alone, I emptied eight bins of yarn by condensing and rearranging things. That felt like quite an accomplishment; although, moving yarn around does make it awfully tempting to start another project.

To help make room for our plans, we need to move some inventory. Be sure to check out the sales. You will not want to miss the chance to find something wonderful while helping us make space for what comes next.

October is already full and busy, and we are planning November and December as well. My calendar is getting a workout!

Oh! Before my memory wanders off again, I have some especially exciting news.

My dear friend Melissa Leapman is coming to teach workshops at our store in June!

Right now, the plan is for the last weekend in June, so pencil that weekend into your calendar. I have known Melissa for at least 20 years, and I just love this woman. I cannot wait to have her here with all of you. We’ll share more details as the plans come together.

And because apparently yarn, workshops, and rearranging the store aren’t quite enough, I also picked up another jewelry line. Thank you, Cheryl, for introducing me to it! There is always room for a little something pretty. We’re just working out exactly where that room is. ;-)

Come see us, check out the sales, and see what Julie and I are moving around next.

For now, I’d better get back to that sweater. Wednesday is coming quickly, and unfortunately, my husband’s wonderful list of services does not include finishing my knitting!
