The Perfect Tote Bag — Not Just for Knitting or Crochet!

The Perfect Tote Bag — Not Just for Knitting or Crochet!

I have a feeling I’m not the only one with a few (okay… more than a few) purses and tote bags. Every time I think I’ve found the perfect one, another catches my eye. And honestly? Owning a yarn store makes it way too easy to keep finding “the perfect bag.”

Yes, I’ll admit it — I’m an enabler for anyone who loves yarn, crafting, and tote bags. Why should I be the only one obsessed with my favorite things? I’m more than happy to share the addiction. You’re welcome. 😉

My bag obsession actually followed my yarn obsession, the same way you might choose different lipsticks to match different outfits, or shoes to match the mood of the day. Before that? My vice was Twizzlers. I used to eat an entire bag a day — until I realized maybe that was a bit… excessive (and my jeans agreed). So I swapped out my candy stash for tote bags. Healthier? Absolutely. Cheaper? …Well, let’s just say “maybe.”
I especially enjoy knitting bags that are versatile and multi-purpose. But I also have a deep love for my Atenti bags. My first “must-have” was the Overnighter Weekender — the cowgirl print version, with a plastic overlay to protect it from getting dirty. It’s my go-to when I travel by plane because I can fit a knitting project and a change of clothes inside (which has saved me more than once when my suitcase was delayed or lost).

Of course, one Overnighter wasn’t enough. I fell in love with another fabric pattern, and that was that. Then I discovered Atenti’s smaller bags — equally irresistible. The Tall Caddy is perfect for carrying on my wrist, roomy enough for a shawl project, and still stylish.

Then there’s the Fortune Cookie bag, which I took on a recent cruise. It held two small knitting projects, plus my wallet, sunglasses, and phone. I could carry it on my wrist or over my shoulder, and the button closure made it so easy to knit while sitting down. Bonus: the fabric is machine washable.

And finally — the smaller sibling to the Fortune Cookie — The Perfect Drawstring Bag. It actually fits inside the Fortune Cookie, and both can fit inside the Weekender/Overnighter. (Yes, I’ve tested this. Yes, it’s dangerous for bag lovers.)

This is just the first episode in what will probably be a very long-running series on my tote and bag collection. Stay tuned — there’s more where this came from.
