Beginner Guide to Tunisian Crochet — Foundational Stitches: In Store

Welcome to the Beginner Tunisian Crochet Class. In this course, we'll walk through four essential foundation stitches in Tunisian crochet: Tunisian Simple Stitch (TSS), Tunisian Purl Stitch (TPS), Tunisian Knit Stitch (TKS), and Tunisian Extended Stitch (TES). These are the foundational stitches that will allow you to create beautiful, textured pieces and gain confidence in your Tunisian crochet journey.
Class Breakdown (10 AM-1 PM)
Class will be split into two sections: 10-11:15 AM, and 11:30-1 PM. The first half of the class will focus on Tunisian Simple Stitch and Tunisian Knit Stitch. The second half of the class will focus on Tunisian Purl Stitch and Tunisian Extended Stitch. There will be a much needed and deserved break in the middle. I will supply the class with free pattern options by respected designers at the end of the class if they wish to practice.

This class will provide:
- Clear, Step-by-Step Instructions: in-person instruction and written guides on how to execute each stitch.
- Real-Time Feedback: It is important to have physical help when we are learning a new craft!
- Project Ideas: Once you’re comfortable with these stitches, I will suggest some small, free project patterns like dishcloths, scarves, shawls, etc. from respected designers.
By the end of this class, you'll be equipped with the skills to create a variety of beautiful, textured Tunisian crochet pieces that will impress your friends and family, and maybe even yourself! ATTENTION: Be on the lookout for the next class in this series of Tunisian Crochet Stitches (and soon to be patterns!).
Class Requirements & Required Materials
- A basic understanding of crochet
- Must know how to slip knot, chain, and single crochet, or at least have a working understanding of the basics.
- A 6 or 6.5mm Tunisian crochet hook (long, double-ended, or corded) and a worsted yarn of your choice (I will have worsted weight yarn to work with if you do not have practice yarn). You could learn with a non-ergonomic crochet hook, but just know you cannot work that many stitches, and the stitches may fall off.
- A willingness to learn and explore new techniques!
